Mummery

mum-mer-y (mŭmˈə-rē)

1. A performance by mummers.*
All the world's a mummery,
And all the men and women merely mummers;

2. A pretentious show or ceremony.
In 2011, the mummery of royal weddings was made most evident by the hats.

Synonyms: carnival, circus, costume ball, facade, festivity, front, masquerade, pretense, subterfuge.
